This week we check out two articles that talk about the wrong way to approach search and SEO; namely outdated tactics and sure-fire ways to limit impact when going global. Then we dive into social media gag orders and how it impacts Olympians. Enjoy your weekend!
Let’s get right to it…Are you underestimating the value of organic traffic conversions from SEO? While you focus on your paid advertising campaign, measuring and managing its ROI through smart keyword bidding and goal conversion management, your organic traffic is quite (and quietly) possibly giving you 2 or 3 times as many conversions, or 5 times more as in the case below, than that of your ads.
As 2011 winds to a close (which frankly is hard to believe since it was just January!) we decided to roll out what will be our annual Digital Marketing Insights for the following year. Our Insights will focus on the three areas that make up our agency offering of helping companies improve their online brand visibility: search engine marketing, custom content creation and blogging, and social media marketing.
So it used to be part of some search engine optimizationstrategies to write articles and then post them on content sites like Ezinearticles.com with links back to the original content or specific product or service pages that pay off the article. Recently Google’s Farmer update stripped many of these article sites from their search rankings, depriving them of the traffic that made them so popular. And while I understand and commend Google for their update – I mean it is all about relevant search results – I think there is some merit in continuing this practice… at least to some extent and depending on your approach.
Today, content and content marketing are playing a central role in online brand visibility. Without a steady flow of fresh, relevant, well-written content your site will not be maximizing its search engine presence.
Content can come in many forms, all of which – if optimized – can set your site apart from competitors, giving you better online brand visibility, but perhaps even more important – a voice. A seat at the table, as they say, brings thought-leadership which goes miles toward shrinking sales cycles and converting new business.
